At ArchiTech Talent, we pride ourselves on being a recruitment agency built on the values of resilience, empathy, and adaptability. These principles are not just abstract values for me; they are born from my personal journey of living with cystic fibrosis (CF)—a genetic condition that has had a profound influence on both my personal and professional life.
Diagnosed with CF at an early age, I’ve spent my life adhering to a strict routine of treatment and self-care. This constant need for management and adaptation to my condition has honed my organisational skills and taught me the importance of discipline. It also brought a deeper understanding of how to manage pressure and prioritise tasks, skills that I carry with me every day as the leader of ArchiTech Talent.
While CF brings daily challenges, it has shaped my resilience and taught me to never take my health, or any opportunity, for granted. It’s this mindset that I believe is key to my approach as a business owner and leader: being able to handle obstacles head-on and persevere despite setbacks.
In addition to living with CF, I also manage ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), which has further shaped the way I approach both life and business. While ADHD can present challenges, particularly with organisation and focus, it has also led me to develop a unique perspective on problem-solving and innovation. I've learned to harness my ability to think outside the box and remain flexible in fast-paced, ever-changing environments—skills that have been invaluable in running a successful recruitment business.
By embracing these challenges, I’ve been able to find ways to balance structure with creativity, enabling me to not only lead but also innovate within the recruitment industry. The combination of these personal experiences has built the foundation for how I lead ArchiTech Talent—with empathy, an open mind, and a commitment to always improving.
Leveraging Sales Experience to Shape a New Approach to Recruitment
Before founding ArchiTech Talent, I spent several years in sales roles across various sectors, including PPI, life insurance, and energy brokering. These roles proved invaluable in developing my ability to navigate high-pressure situations, build strong relationships, and truly understand client needs.
In the PPI (Payment Protection Insurance) sector, I helped clients make claims, often in stressful situations. This required not just product knowledge, but also patience, empathy, and the ability to gain trust quickly. Similarly, my time in the life insurance industry taught me the art of consultative selling, where understanding the client’s full situation allowed me to tailor the perfect solution for them. These skills would prove essential when transitioning into recruitment.
The energy brokering sector gave me further insight into the competitive nature of client relations and negotiation. Handling contracts, managing expectations, and maintaining long-term relationships became second nature. These skills were easily transferable when I made the jump into recruitment, where I could leverage my background to connect with both clients and candidates in meaningful ways.
From Sales to Recruitment: A Natural Transition
My career in recruitment began at Snowdon Recruitment, where I quickly gained valuable experience in the recruitment field, specialising in finding and placing talent across multiple industries. From there, I moved to Aztec Resources, where I further honed my skills and developed a deeper understanding of how the recruitment process could be more consultative and human-centric. At Agile Recruit, I specialised in cloud, DevOps, and IT recruitment, where I worked with both candidates and clients to ensure successful placements.
These roles shaped my belief that recruitment is about much more than just filling roles. It's about creating strong, meaningful connections and truly understanding the needs of both clients and candidates. 360 recruitment, where I managed the end-to-end process, became second nature to me. Over time, I realised the immense value of creating a recruitment process rooted in trust, transparency, and long-term relationships.
Founding ArchiTech Talent: A Vision for Ethical, Human-Centric Recruitment
In 2024, I founded ArchiTech Talent, driven by the desire to create a recruitment agency that didn’t just focus on filling roles but truly helped transform organisations and careers. I wanted to build a company that valued the human side of recruitment, where clients and candidates felt heard, understood, and respected.
At ArchiTech Talent, our approach is different from many traditional agencies. We don’t see recruitment as a transaction; we see it as a partnership. We invest time in getting to know both the client’s business and the candidate’s aspirations, ensuring that each placement is the right one for everyone involved. Integrity and transparency are at the heart of everything we do.
Our mission is to provide a consultative, tailored service, bringing top talent to businesses in the tech sector, while ensuring that each candidate feels supported and empowered throughout their journey.
Conclusion: A Legacy of Resilience, Vision, and Integrity
The path to founding ArchiTech Talent wasn’t always easy, but every challenge I faced—whether it was living with cystic fibrosis, managing ADHD, navigating a demanding sales career, or transitioning into recruitment—has shaped me into the leader I am today. These experiences have given me the resilience, empathy, and adaptability to lead a successful recruitment business, built on values that prioritise long-term relationships and quality outcomes.
At ArchiTech Talent, we don’t just place people in jobs; we help them transform their careers. Our mission is to connect exceptional talent with forward-thinking businesses, driving success for both.
